Allow me to introduce myself....I'm Kerri Wilkinson, and I am
super excited to have you as a member of Team Wilkinson for the 2016-2017 school year!! I was blessed to join
Kenwood’s staff in 2013 and this is my 4th year teaching fourth grade.
I am a Louisville girl…attended the Catholic school in my
neighborhood growing up and then spent 4 wonderful years at Presentation
Academy. I graduated from Bellarmine
University in 2005 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and
Economics, where I was also a member of the Cross County and Track & Field
teams, and set out to rule Corporate America.
Sometime in the 5 years that followed this decision, I realized I was
most passionate about my work with kids (through sports/coaching) and my employer
understood. I graduated with my Master’s
in Teaching from the University of the Cumberlands in 2012 and have loved every
minute of my second career. I am also currently pursuing my Rank 1 Certification and hope to finish in May 2017.
My family is SPECTACULAR, we have a great time when we’re together…so
we gather frequently and make my mom cook, because she’s really good at it ;) My dad taught us to worship Cardinal athletics, and he is definitely the King of
the Tailgate!! I have an identical twin,
Kacie, and an older brother, Geoff. But
my favorite family member is my nephew Rees.
He is two and a half years old and I adore spoiling him rotten.
The greatest gift sports (and being a twin) gave me growing up was
community—the sense that I belonged; that I was working with and for something
greater than just myself. It taught me
communication, cooperation, and confidence.
I have the same goals for each member of Team Wilkinson this year—it’s why
I greet them every morning and send them away every afternoon with a hug, handshake
or high-five. Thank you for sharing your
child with me this year and I look forward to the many exciting lessons we will
teach each other!
